Anotolia is amongst the few Turkish places in London with a HMC certificate Whilst there are many Turkish places with great reviews the halal certificate often lets us down. Hence I was very keen to try Anatolia to find us all another favourite Turkish place. I absolutely love Turkish food just like my mum, I think it’s an inherited preference! I was pleased to be welcomed with many smiling faces from the staffs who were very kind and helpful. They made sure that we were enjoying ourselves and were very willing to help. I was expecting a complimentary starter including hummus to be served like many other Turkish restaurants but that wasn’t the case. However, that didn’t in any way outweigh the lovely service and food I received. It would be nice if they did start serving a complimentary starter though.
CHICKEN DONER (£8.00): I wanted to order the lamb doner but that wasn’t available for some reason. Nevertheless I decided to order the chicken doner instead which was served alongside fresh salad, homemade bread and a choice of rice or chips. The chicken doner consisted of finely sliced chicken pieces that were nicely grilled and were quite juicy. There were two types of rice served, I particularly preferred the Bulgur rice (orange one) over the plain one, but there’s isn’t a large disparity between the two. The Ayran drink, a salty drink make from yoghurt, well complimented the main meal by maintaining that savoury taste. I did very much enjoy it and the portion overall was quite filling however compared to the portion of the chicken served, I think the portion of the rice was quite small. Would I visit this place again? Yes!
